Headache & Migraine
Headaches are a very common condition that most people will experience many times during their lives. A headache is often described as discomfort or pain in the head, throbbing, constant, sharp, or dull. Headaches can differ greatly in regard to pain type, severity, location, and frequency. Although they are mostly mild, in some cases, they can cause severe discomfort that may affect concentration at work and the performance of other daily activities.
In Ayurveda, it is believed that headaches are caused by an imbalance of doshas. Therefore, most Ayurvedic treatment plans prioritize restoring balance. Our Integrated Wellness approach helps identify the root cause of the headaches to develop treatment plans that provide long-term solutions rather than temporary symptomatic relief.
What causes headaches or migraine?
There are many types of headaches based on different causes, such as primary headaches like migraines, sinus headaches, and tension headaches, to name a few. Primary headaches can be triggered by lifestyle factors or situations or certain foods like alcohol, particularly red wine, processed meats that contain nitrates, changes in sleep or lack of sleep, poor posture, over exercise, or skipping meals.
Secondary headaches are caused by other underlying conditions like hormones, dehydration, sinus, etc., and can be a sign of a serious underlying health condition like head injury, infection, etc.
