Hypertension
The heart pumps blood throughout the body via blood vessels. This flow of blood exerts a specific pressure on the walls of the blood vessels. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, occurs when blood pumps through the blood vessels with more than normal force or pressure. Hypertension usually produces no symptoms; it is often called a “Silent Killer.”
What are the causes of Hypertension?
There are mainly two types of hypertension: Primary and Secondary, based on causative factors. Primary or essential hypertension is not related to any underlying medical condition. While as secondary hypertension is caused by another underlying condition like a kidney problem.
Multiple factors, such as stress, a lack of sleep, an unhealthy diet and lifestyle, obesity, heart problems, genetics, or family history, can cause high blood pressure. According to Ayurveda, high blood pressure is believed to be caused by a Dosha imbalance and addressed by resolving the underlying root cause.
