Nasya (Sinus Detox)
Sinuses are air-filled cavities in the skull that help to maintain normal airway and pressure. Clogging of the sinuses can lead to multiple symptoms, such as headache, blocked nose, tiredness, fatigue, low energy levels, and facial pain.
This can be caused by bacteria, viruses, allergies, and a weak immune system. Sinusitis is known to cause a blocked or runny nose, facial pain, nasal congestion, and headaches.
Why is there a necessity for sinus detox?
We are exposed to a high level of environmental toxins and pollution. Sinuses are the entrance to the lungs, and according to Ayurveda, they are the gateway to the skull. At the same time, they are exposed to constant environmental pollution and dust, which leads to clogging of the sinuses and inflammation, which further leads to respiratory problems. Post-COVID, we have realized the importance of immunity and respiratory wellness, and to improve immunity, healthy and clean sinuses are a must.
How does sinus detox work?
It starts with an Abhyanga (warm Ayurvedic oil massage) with eucalyptus or camphor oil on the face and chest to loosen up phlegm, followed by a face and chest herbal steam.
After the above procedure, medicated oils are instilled in the nostrils to rapidly absorb into the mucous membranes of the nasal passages. This helps to loosen the phlegm and expel it naturally, thus de-clogging the sinuses.
- Cleanses sinuses, relieve congestion and is highly beneficial for sinusitis, hay fever, and allergic rhinitis.
- Boosts respiratory immunity and reduces recurrence of episodes.
- Beneficial for headaches and migraines.
